Description
Description
This Powermaster fixed GU10 downlight is a recessed ceiling fitting for GU10 bulbs, supplied as a pack of 3 in a white finish. It's a fixed (non-adjustable, non-tilting) downlight housing made from zinc alloy, designed to be recessed into a ceiling and wired into your lighting circuit. This listing is for the fitting itself, not a light bulb — a GU10 bulb needs to be fitted separately.
Key features
- Fixed, non-adjustable downlight housing — doesn't tilt or swivel, unlike an eyeball/gimbal downlight
- White finish, zinc alloy construction
- Supplied as a pack of 3 fittings
- Standard GU10 twist-and-lock bulb holder, accepts GU10 bulbs up to 50W (or the LED equivalent)
- Mains wired, 240V
- Bulbs not included — fit with any standard GU10 bulb, LED or halogen
Where to use it
These are indoor downlights, well suited to kitchens (away from direct steam), hallways, living rooms and bedrooms. Powermaster doesn't publish an IP (ingress protection) rating for this fitting, so we can't confirm it's suitable for bathrooms or outdoor use — for a bathroom zone 1 or 2, or any outdoor location, use a downlight that's specifically rated IP44 or IP65 for that zone instead.
How it's installed
Unlike swapping a bulb, fitting a recessed downlight involves cutting into the ceiling and connecting it to your mains lighting circuit. This should be installed, or at least checked, by a qualified electrician — in the UK, fixed wiring work like this falls under Part P of the Building Regulations in kitchens and bathrooms. Once it's wired in, GU10 bulbs are simply twisted in and out of the fitting in the usual way, with the power off.
Frequently asked questions
Does this pack include GU10 bulbs?
No, this listing is for the downlight fittings only. Bulbs are sold separately — see our GU10 bulb collection for a suitable LED or halogen replacement.
What GU10 bulbs fit this downlight?
Any standard GU10 bulb up to 50W (or the equivalent LED wattage) fits the twist-and-lock GU10 holder in this fitting.
Is this downlight dimmable?
Dimming depends on the bulb you fit and having a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit, not on the fitting itself. Fit a dimmable LED GU10 bulb and use an LED-compatible dimmer switch to dim it.
Can I use this in a bathroom?
Powermaster doesn't publish an IP rating for this fitting, so we can't confirm it's suitable for bathroom zones. Choose a fitting rated IP44 or IP65 for bathroom use instead.
