Purdy has handcrafted paint brushes in the USA since 1925 and is now part of Sherwin-Williams, and Monarch Elite is one of its flagship professional ranges.

Each brush uses tapered, flagged synthetic filaments from a Chinex and Orel blend. The tapered tips help the brush release paint smoothly and evenly while the flagged edges hold more paint in the bristles, giving you control at smaller sizes without sacrificing coverage. The set works well with water based and oil based paints and performs particularly well with thicker coatings such as emulsion.

How to Use

Use the 1 inch brush for fine detail and narrow trim, the 1.5 inch brush for general cutting in around edges, and the 2 inch brush for smaller flat areas such as skirting boards and door frames. Dip about a third of the bristle length into the paint, tap off any excess, and apply with light, controlled strokes. Clean all three brushes promptly after use, reshape the bristles and let them dry flat or hanging.
