Simply dilute, apply and leave it to work, there's no rinsing, no scrubbing and no jet-washing required. This 5L bottle is our best-value size, making up to 170m² of ready-to-use solution once diluted, so it's the right choice for larger patios, driveways and paths, or for treating multiple areas of the garden in one go.

How to use Patio Magic 5L Concentrate

1. Choose your dilution. For normal moss and algae build-up, dilute 1 part Patio Magic to 4 parts water. For light, early-stage growth, you can dilute it further to 1 part Patio Magic to 9 parts water.
2. Prepare the surface. Sweep away loose debris and leaves. Apply to a dry surface, ideally when no rain is forecast for at least 5-6 hours.
3. Apply evenly. Use a watering can with a rose, a garden sprayer, or a pump sprayer to cover the surface evenly, roughly 1 litre of diluted solution per 3-7m².
4. Leave it to work. Don't scrub or rinse. Patio Magic breaks down naturally on the surface, no wash-off is needed.
5. Keep pets and children off the area until it has dried completely, this typically takes 5-6 hours depending on the weather.
6. Watch for results. Green algae and mould are typically visibly reduced within 2-4 days. Heavier black mould or lichen may take a little longer and can leave some residual staining even once killed off.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to dilute this product?

Yes. The 5L bottle is a concentrate, so it needs diluting with water before use, 1:4 for normal infestations or 1:9 for light growth. If you'd rather skip mixing altogether, our Ready To Use Spray is pre-mixed and ready to go straight from the bottle.

Do I have to wash it off afterwards?

No. Patio Magic is a no-rinse formula, once applied, simply leave it on the surface to work. There's no need to scrub or hose it down afterwards.

How long does it take to work?

Most green algae and mould is visibly reduced within 2-4 days. Full results, particularly on heavier moss or lichen, can take one to two weeks depending on the weather and how established the growth is.

Is it safe for my dog or cat?

Yes, once the treated area has dried completely. Keep pets off the area while it's being applied and until it's fully dry, which typically takes 5-6 hours.

Is it safe to use near my plants?

Patio Magic is formulated for hard surfaces rather than plants. Try to avoid direct overspray onto flower beds or borders, and if any does land on nearby plants, flush the area with clean water as a precaution.

Does it kill weeds or grass?

Patio Magic is formulated to remove algae, moss and lichen from hard surfaces, it isn't sold as a dedicated weedkiller. For weeds growing up through paving cracks, a product like Doff Knockdown Path & Patio Weedkiller is designed specifically for that job.

Can I use it on decking, tarmac or block paving?

Patio Magic is designed for hard surfaces including patios, driveways, paths and block paving. As with any outdoor cleaner, always test a small, inconspicuous area first, particularly on decking, natural stone, or any surface you're unsure about.
